Waves crash against the shore
Forewarning of the coming storm
Seagulls scream in raging fright
Rushing, rushing from the night
Clouds whir violently, hiding the moon
Off in the distance, a sad, lonely loon
Nature's havoc on a quiet night

Knows the frightening sight

The brown and yellow leaves
rustle
Twigs snap underfoot
The stone path
obscured
Lost but hoping

The howling wind creeps along
the skin in
Slivers of cold awakening
Fear whispers
a missed turn
Droning louder

Standstill on the path once
So clear
Acknowledging, finally
Need
