Be the Change Challenge-Rude/Mean Speak

It gets stuck in my craw when people are mean, rude and negative under the guise of being helpful.  These are the people that start their sentences with, "I don't mean to be rude but..." and "I hate to say this but..." If you have to preface what you're about to say like that, maybe you need to stop for a moment and wonder if you really are trying to be rude. Or mean. Or perhaps, what you want to say is self-serving rather than any attempt to "help" the other person.

So today, stop yourself before you say those phrases.  Ask yourself if what you want to say will help or hurt that person. If your intention is truly to help, maybe you should pray for the best wording before you speak. Perhaps it's not time to address it, and when it is, you'll have the kindest words to address it.

Be the smile. Be the positive. Be the change.

Have you spoken these rude or mean phrases recently?
